The Reggio Emilia Approach

Potential, combined with our unique abilities that we develop from an early age, form the very makeup of who we are and who we will become. The Reggio Emilia approach pays close attention to the relationships that children share with their environment, whānau, peers and teachers.

Your child will help set the curriculum

The Reggio Emilia approach is to co-construct the curriculum with the children and their families to stimulate learning.

The approach encourages both children and teachers to brainstorm and discuss topics of interest. Children are encouraged to develop skills in problem solving, hypothesising, critical reflection and collaboration. They will be asked to document their ideas, knowledge and understanding in a variety of ways.

It’s all about the family

The relationships between a child and their family is important in determining their enthusiasm towards learning. This is why we work hand-in-hand with all family members, to foster a strong community spirit. Ultimately, we want our centre to feel like a ‘home away from home’.

Our team consists of passionate and driven teachers who strive towards developing the bright minds of tomorrow. We’ll work hand-in-hand with you to develop suitable goals for your child. Teachers regularly attend Professional Development courses so that their skills are always to the highest possible standard.

The environment as the “Third Educator”

We refer to the environments surrounding the children as the ‘third teacher’, as it plays a major role in their learning and development. Fun environments stimulate children’s minds and capture their imagination, engaging them in learning, creating and socialising. We emphasise attractive colours, lights and designs, and make use of natural and man-made resources and organise the environment for children to be independent.
